Safeguarding Important Documents

A new service exists to help you safeguard important family documents like digital photos, valuable documents and irreplaceable family pictures.

Chuck Lanza, a former emergency management director in Florida's Miami-Dade county turned to arkiva.com, a new South Florida Web company. Arkiva.com made a digital computer record of his possessions.

It's all to ensure access to vital papers and family keepsakes when a hurricane hits.

Arkiva CEO Bruce Roberson says everything goes into a computer hard-drive. Customers get their own secure Web page, which you can log onto from any computer, a vital feature if your home and papers are destroyed or you've been evacuated.

For $299, Arkiva photographers document your belongings and the condition of your home for insurance purposes.

The cost to store your data with Arkiva is $8 a month. You can also see all your information on your cell phone.

For more information on Arkiva, visit their Web site at www.arkiva.com.
